About Alexandre Ponte
"Now ready to take a more diverse approach within the world of music, Alexandre Ponte, born in St. Etienne, France, is an aspiring composer of film/media music.
Since the age of twelve, Alexandre has been both studying guitar under the private tuition of Domingos Caetano, and playing as lead guitarist in one of Portugal's foremost Classic Rock bands, Iris. Formed by Domingos over 35 years ago and well known the length and breadth of Portugal for their outstanding performances live and on CDs, Alexandre joined the band over 8 years ago, playing on two CD/DVDs while taking on simultaneous further studies in music.
During his time with Iris, he attended the Conservatory of Classical Music Studies in Faro, and worked under the guidance of Rui Martins, for 4 years, where he achieved grade 8 in classical guitar, and grade 6 in music theory.
He quit the band 2 years ago to further his music studies in order to pursue his dream of working to create music for the world-wide movie industry.
While working with Iris on the CD "Ao Acaso", he came to work with Iris's English producer/arranger/orchestrator, Neal Kay, whose exploits in the rock music industry spanned over 45 years.
Neal had, during his long career, worked alongside such greats as Iron Maiden, Saxon, Rush, Praying Mantis, and had traveled widely in the course of his work from L.A. to Tokyo, giving help and ideas to many bands world wide. He had also been responsible for producing the first Iris album way back in 1996.

Neal encouraged Alexandre to continue on his path, always searching for the excellence of creating, writing and performing to the utmost of his ability. After 8 years, serving in one of the outstanding bands in Portugal, he found his true calling, in the aspiration to become a composer of film music.
Finally, in 2017, he began studies at the Berklee College of Music, (online), for a Master's Certificate on the Composition on Film and TV to realise his dream.
"I have known this young aspiring musician, whose desire for the ultimate in serious study of music is so very intense, for 8 years and I have no doubt that given time and the right connections, he will make his very defined mark within the industry that he so tirelessly and completely immerses himself in while chasing his dream. His work is already showing that a very promising future awaits him in the wings.
I wish him luck-he has my support!”
